Success Measured in Metres!

On Friday 14 September 2018, the 5th anniversary of the company’s establishment was celebrated, along with start-up of a new paper machine in the production plant of Velvet Care in Klucze. The ceremony was attended by representatives of local authorities, business partners, the mass media and the team of Velvet CARE employees responsible for the investment in new MP7 Paper Machine, headed by Wanda Ciesielczuk, director of the production division. The participants had an opportunity of getting to know the history of the company, recounted by Artur Pielak, President of the Management Board and Marek Ściążko, deputy president and director of the paper mill in Klucze; guests also visited the plant, which is one of the largest and most modern facilities of this type in Central and Eastern Europe.

Success may be measured in a number of ways, yet the manner proposed by our President Artur Pielak will definitely be remembered by all the guests. Thousands of square metres of the surface area of new buildings, hundreds of kilometres of tissue wound on drums or millions of kilometres of paper that can be wrapped along the equator twice impressed everybody.

In the course of five years, the surface area of the plant grew by 35,000 square metres (i.e. 75%), the number of processing lines increased from 5 to 13 and the production capacity augmented three times, whereas the number of employees rose from 280 to 600 (we do not measure them in metres, yet – in all probability – the new employees arranged one on top of the other would create a tower at least twice as high as the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw).

We are happy that our birthday was celebrated in the group of almost 50 guests, representatives of local and province authorities, representatives of the special economic zone, partners in the strategic investment projects in the new paper machine and representatives of the local and national media. We were visited by Norbert Bień, head of the Klucze Commune, Wojciech Przybylski and Małgorzata Popławska from the Cracow Technological Park, Jan Erikson, Deputy President of Valmet AB (manufacturer of the above-mentioned new paper machine), Bartosz Grondkowski from BGŻ PNB Paribas, Marek Piwowarczyk and Zbigniew Putaj from Małopolska Business Centre Club and Marcin Michalec, President of ENKI.

We are greatly pleased with the award “Małopolska Investment and Innovation Tree”, which was presented by Wojciech Przybylski, President of the Cracow Technological Park, who emphasised that the accomplishments of Velvet CARE are an example of a “success story” and may serve as a paragon for other Polish entrepreneurs.

After the official part, the participants visited the new section of the plant and later, in a less formal atmosphere and in the accompaniment of a jazzy vocal, all the guests had the opportunity of talking to the representatives of Velvet CARE. Traditionally, the representatives of mass media were the most inquisitive.

We would like to thank all the guests for coming and would like to invite everybody for next celebrations in five years’ time! As announced by President Artur Pielak, it is worth to reserve the date, because doubling business in five-year cycles is a strategy that we are going to stick to!
